Mother’s Day Book

Mother’s Day is a really special day for us because without my wife, none of this would be possible. It’s a day where I reflect on the year with the kids and I always try to do something special - to write a storybook using all the photos we took throughout the year.

It has become a tradition for our family to read the new storybook on Mother’s Day (or close to Mother’s Day because I missed a year or two where the book wasn’t done exactly on time…oops!). The kids all love reading the story and seeing all the photos come to life. They also have a great time remembering all of the things they did during the year.

It’s hard to keep up with that tradition sometimes with all the things going on in life, but what motivates me is remembering one of the first times they read through a “new” release and couldn’t stop laughing at all of the pages. It took 30 minutes to get through a 29 page book and they wanted me to read it over and over again. The joy they have for reading grows because they are literally in the story, so the pressure is on to keep the tradition going (and keep the jokes coming!). Hopefully one day they can start writing their own sections and I will be really excited to see what they come up with!
