What is Important?

My 5 year old daughter has been waking up earlier in the mornings and coming into my room to wake me up. On the weekdays, it works well because we have to get to daycare a little earlier. On the weekends, I’d rather sleep in. Sometimes she comes in on the weekends and just talks to me, so we end up having a slower morning.

One particular morning a few weeks ago, she was asking me what was important. I have emphasized a few things (not money!) that are important - mainly health. My daughter started to come up with a list. Her list was health, family, friends, love, food, and a home.

Honestly, that’s a pretty solid list. Those are the things that resonate with her and if everyone had that, the world would be an amazing place. It’s funny how asking her “what else?” led to what Is truly important in life. Most other things are a means to those ends.
