Trampoline Baby

My baby boy L has been crawling everywhere now that he has gotten comfortable with the house. He even grabs a toy bee on wheels and sometimes walks around with it. I always said I prefer the crawling phase vs. the lay on the back and cry phase, but I am rethinking that stance as of now.

We were gifted a toy trampoline for Christmas about a year ago. It just sits in the corner of the house and sometimes my older kids go and jump on it, but it mostly goes unused - until L discovered how to climb on top of it. He learned to pick his leg up onto it and put his whole upper body pressed in to the trampoline. Then he can easily get his other leg up and is now on top of it. He usually gives the biggest smile once he accomplishes his goal and that has replaced the water bowl for my 75lb bernadoodle as the favorite attraction downstairs.

L will then wiggle his butt and legs on the trampoline and try to make it bounce him up and down. He laughs and laughs and sometimes, he ends up falling down on the trampoline. Other times, he has fallen off of it, but luckily there is only a few inches until the ground. Most of the time he is on that, I end up sticking close by to catch him in case he tumbles over. He has also tried to climb off of it and has done a face plant, so we are trying to work on the dismount.

Overall, L is a very curious baby and is similar to my other kids when they were babies. You couldn’t get them to stop opening cabinets, drawers, and other things. They all love to explore and I am left with very little energy towards the end of the day since I’m chasing my little ones around and trying to get them all to play with the trampoline safely. Fun times!
