Shower Time Miracle

When you are dealing with three kids (or actually any kids), shower/bath time can be a mixed bag of fun or chaos. It’s difficult to know which one you will get each day since it depends on a variety of factors that are mostly (not?) under your control. Tonight was one of those nights a miracle happened.

It started with a solid dinner where the kids ate quite a lot. My 4 year old son C usually needs someone spoon feeding him, but tonight he was an eating machine. My 6 year old daughter E is usually a pretty good eater and once she gets some food in her, she is a pleasant sunflower again. After dinner and some popsicles (yes, I know it’s winter), it was time for a shower. I was fully expecting them to go haywire and start running around playfully on full tummies. When my wife asked them to go upstairs and get ready for a shower, they chose chaos.

They began to run around and got really hyper for a minute. My wife asked again nicely and something clicked in them. They agreed, went upstairs, got ready for the shower, and for the first time ever, they turned on the shower to the appropriate temperature and got in the shower. By the time my wife made it upstairs, she was shocked. I was downstairs with the baby and didn’t witness this miracle first-hand, but I heard my wife’s surprise. If this is a sign of things to come, I’m all for it.
