Sharing Giggles

We have been giving the kids gluten free snacks because my 5 year old daughter likely has a gluten intolerance. My wife loves our kids so much that she constantly brings home an assortment of gluten free snacks for everyone to try. Her goal is to spend a lot of money…I mean find some snacks the kids love!

One particular snack was a hit. Giggles. They are the gluten free version of Skittles. Who knew there was gluten in Skittles? I thought it was just a mix of sugar, colors, and some other compounds. When being careful about gluten, you start to realize it’s in a lot of places you wouldn’t expect.

The Giggles were such a hit that my kids have been picking them for their after dinner treat for many days. On one particular night, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about since I grew up eating tons of Skittles as a kid. I asked my daughter to share one since she placed them all out neatly and sorted them by color. She looked at her pile and then said she didn’t want to. I asked her to please share since I wanted to compare the purple Giggles to the purple Skittles (my favorite). My daughter still said no. That’s fine I needed to try my luck elsewhere.

I turned to my 4 year old son and asked the same question. He said sure even though he was pounding his Giggles and didn’t have many left. He gave me a random color and it actually tasted pretty good. Then I asked him for a purple one and he said sure and handed me one. It actually tasted pretty good and I can see why my kids liked the Giggles. I also love the fact that my son shared his Giggles when he had a dwindling supply. Both of my kids have very generous attitudes, but on this night, my son was a great sharer (probably because he doesn’t like the Giggles as much as his sitter!).
