Scared to Sleep

My wife has been putting our kids to sleep over the last few weeks while I have been assigned baby duty with L. She has been reading to them and after story-time is done, she waits in there now for our 6 year old daughter E and 4 year old son C to fall asleep.

Apparently, the last few nights C was scared to sleep. He didn’t want to drift off for some reason, but E was super caring and kind. She was telling him all kinds of mental exercises to calm his mind, such as imagining a blank white paper to paint on. She wanted C to pick a color to paint with and he said green. He would draw something and then she would ask him to pick the next color. This went on and on until he fell asleep.

My wife has been feeling really sick the last few days, so E has been helping with bedtime and being so sweet. She is such a caring big sister and even though there are sibling fights (like today E pushing C down because he took her chapstick!), she really does take care of her little brother. I’m sure C will do the same for L and I want everyone to look out for each other because we are all family. We won’t be perfect all the time, but as long as we usually care for each other (and always love each other), that’s what matters.
