I Choose You, Pikachu

My 4 year old som is getting into Pokemon already and we got him a stuffed Pikachu for his birthday. He really loves cars, but also loves the stuffed Pikachu he got. He sleeps with it almost every night.

Tonight as I was putting him to bed, he looked at me before we started story time and said he definitely did NOT have toys with him. That’s a clear signal that he has something under his pillow. He was playing with a car set that he got for his birthday and hid all six cars under his pillow. I took them away and put them on the floor since he shouldn’t have cars in bed.

We were almost done with story time when he said he wanted his Pikachu. It was in the playroom. I got up to get it and came back to give it to him. Once he got it, he laid down and I did too (since I’m stuck on the ground at night until they fall asleep). Suddenly I heard him turn on his stomach and something was clicking. I realized my son pulled a fast one on me at that moment. He had jumped out of bed to take his cars back into bed while I was getting his Pikachu. Once I realized that, I told him he better not play with his cars and to go to sleep. Luckily it was dark, so he couldn’t see me smiling while trying to be stern. I’ve never been more proud of him than right now. Clever boy.
