Wiggly Tooth
My 5 year old daughter has a wiggly tooth. It’s her first one. She also has a pair of teeth growing behind her current row of teeth on the bottom of her jaw. I remember having loose and wiggly teeth growing up and I hated it. The whole process of having it wiggle and hurt was uncomfortable. Then I was always a bit scared to pull the tooth out myself.
My daughter seems mostly unbothered by the whole ordeal so far. Some days she says the tooth hurts and other days it seems fine. Also, I don’t think she understands how the tooth actually falls out yet because maybe she may think differently if she did. I won’t say anything about it though and just let her experience things as they happen.
She did ask about the tooth fairy and whether it was real or not. I tend to just tell my kids the truth - that there is no tooth fairy, Santa, etc. It is Daddy and Mommy doing things because we love them (and want to make the special times special). My daughter sat back and thought about it and ultimately wondered whether she was going to get money under her pillow. There is a joke in there somewhere. Something something that’s what she cares about I guess!
At the end of the day, it’s another milestone for her along with starting kindergarten soon. Lots of things are changing so quickly. I have to keep reminding myself to appreciate each day since they are only this little once. Some days are harder than others to remember that, but these milestones are a reminder to not forget to enjoy the moments as they come.
