Valentines Day Fiasco
Valentines Day was a big day because both my 4 year old son C and my 6 year old daughter E had parties in their respective classes. They were both so excited for them and ended up being excited to go to sleep the night before to get to the party day quicker. They ended up having fun, but I had to face a little fiasco along the way.
My wife is the room parent for our daughter E’s class. The room parent is in charge of all the organizing, prep work, and muscle during these special activities. My wife goes overboard and does a great job with it all, but she ends up stressing herself out. During the sprint to get everything ready for the party, she ended up taking the car with the baby car seat. I needed that car to pick up C from daycare after baby L wakes up from his nap.
It was lucky that my wife didn’t see any of the texts I sent about the car because I ended up getting some good cardio in running to the car with the stroller and baby L. I was panting when I got there and loaded up L and the stroller to pick up C. It was also lucky that C’s class had a special reader in class, so I got to practice my grip strength holding onto the car seat while I wait for the book to be done.
This is just a microcosm of being a parent and things are bound to go wrong. After having 3 kids to deal with, I’ve learned to just accept reality how it is and deal with it. Luckily I still got what I needed to do done and I also only got screamed at for 15 minutes out of the hour long ordeal. Not bad. I’ll take it as a huge win and a memorable Valentine’s Day exercise routine.
