Spidey Brown Bear

My kids have been watching Spidey and His Amazing Friends on Disney+. They don’t get to watch TV, but in days where they are sick or super tired from activities, they get a lot of access to it. I think my kids have watched every episode of that series multiple times over and even though I don’t like them watching TV at all, it does open up their imagination (and their type of play).

The other night while we were getting ready for bed, my 5 year old daughter started to make up a story out of the blue. She hasn’t read the Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See book in a long time. I don’t know if they recently came across it in kindergarten or what prompted her to think about that book. She used the same pattern in that book to make up a story about Spidey and His Amazing Friends.

It started off asking Spidey what does he see, then he sees a black spider (Spin), then a ghost spider, then a green goblin, a robot, a dinosaur, etc. My daughter went through all the characters of the show in the form of the Brown Bear book. It was pretty awesome to hear and I loved her imagination when she tried to hint at the characters by giving only clues (like black spider was Spin). Even though I hate them watching TV, seeing her brain mash up two different things and come up with something new made me hate them watching TV a bit less.
