Running into People in the World
My 5 year old daughter has a carousel of teachers changing into and out of her daycare due to summer schedules and priorities. The has gotten two really awesome teachers that have recently cycled through her class. She has said before that she will miss her teachers, but now that she is much older, I think it is really hitting home.
Over the last few days, she has constantly brought up her teachers and hopes to run into them in the world. She brings up the hope frequently because I tried to let her know that she may not see them again. My daughter wants them to work as teachers again the next summer so she could see them. I mentioned that when people graduate college (which her teachers will), they need to find different kinds of jobs that pay more (grown up problems…yay!). She always responds with something along the lines of spontaneously running into them when she is older. The likelihood is low, but I like her outlook on things.
She made me promise that at times when we are free, especially during winter break and such, we could go say hi to all of her old teachers. I of course said yes. She really does love her teachers and even though she might not remember each and every one of them, they have definitely left an early (and very positive) impression on her. For that, I’m very grateful that she has a set of people that really care about her. Who knows, maybe we will still run into some of them in the future. Life is funny like that sometimes.
