Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm

My baby son, who is about 5 months old, is getting really close to talking. He constantly goes around and says mmmmm mmmmm mmmmmm, but doesn’t quite know how to add some A’s after those M’s. My wife really wants our baby son’s first word to be Mama and rather than troll my wife and convince our baby son to say Dada, I’m helping the cause. Plus, when my daughter was a baby, her first word was Dada and I was as surprised as anyone. That was good enough for me.

When I’m with the baby, I can see him watching everything like a hawk. He is getting so observant and interested in eating different textures, eye tracking anything that moves, and moving his mouth when he sees people talking or eating. That type of behavior definitely is the result of hitting some type of mental leap or milestone and we are finally on the cusp of him talking.

I really hope he ends up talking soon and that his first word is Mama. I know it’ll make my wife so happy. It would also make me really happy because he won’t shriek with a high pitched voice whenever he is happy or needs something. I know it’s his form of talking to express himself. I also know it’s cute, but it hurts my ears so much even just thinking about it. Once he starts talking though, I know he will just keep blabbering because if he’s anything like me, it’s going to be something he is good at!
