With The Baby

Magic Baby

My 3 year old son coined the term for my newborn - Magic Baby. Not only was he a huge surprise to all of use, but he is much easier to lug around and take care of in general vs. my other two newborn experiences. My wife and I now use the term all the time to describe our newborn.

Part of the Magic Baby experience is the ease of naps. My other two kids needed to be touching my wife in order to fall asleep. It was suffocating for her at times to be a magnet for the kids since she didn’t get many breaks during each 24 hour cycle. The Magic Baby would let us swaddle him up and put a binkie in his mouth. We would then crank up the sound machine and he would be asleep. It was a miracle and something that fascinates me every time compared to my wife needing to sleep next to my other two kids (or sometimes having them in a wrap and bouncing them to sleep on an exercise ball).

Another thing that fascinates me is the fact that long car rides are doable. Since there doesn’t need to be direct contact with my wife, we can go on longer car rides with our newborn without hearing crying or screaming for the entirety of the car ride (something that I am very used to unfortunately). I could just pop him in a car seat and put him in the car…and that’s it. I have never had this experience before and I am very very very very very grateful.

He’s truly a Magic Baby.
