Lunch Dates
A while ago, my 6 year old daughter E had the day off from school. We ended up going to grab lunch at a pho spot as a family while my 4 year old son C was at daycare. E kept saying what a great lunch date it was and C wanted one of his own. It was a while before schedules lined up, but it finally did recently. E was in school while C was at home.
We ended up taking C out for ramen (one of his favorite meals) and something my wife wanted to eat also. I was weary of a wait because we were going around noon, but that’s what they wanted. When we finally arrived there, of course baby L pooped in his diaper. While my wife had to change it, I went with C to put out names down for a table. By the time she walked up, she was hangry and we had already been waiting about 15 minutes.
Most of the people waiting for a table either were sets of adults or families with much older kids. Here we were with a 4 year old and a baby. It was hard to wait. After 20 more minutes of waiting, my wife wanted to figure out something else. To me, there was already a long wait and somehow we ended up staying a bit longer. Luckily for us and all the hangry people in my family, we ended up getting a table after about 5 more minutes. We ordered and the food came out right away. That’s the beauty of a ramen restaurant.
Everyone, including baby L, gobbled up all the food. L would cry if we didn’t feed him fast enough and he loved the noodles, rice, and salmon. We then went to go get some ice cream and C was having the time of his life. He was just so happy to spend time with his Mommy and Daddy. He also loves his baby brother. It was fun being out with him even though waiting for a table was stressful with two young kids. They didn’t notice though and C had such a great day he kept telling E about it when she got home. Glad we could balance things out and each of our older kids got a core memory out of it!
