Like Father Like Son

Kids are always watching and learning from others, especially their parents. I don’t even notice what I’m doing sometimes, but my kids definitely do. They are constantly watching and are picking up problem solving skills by watching what we do as grown ups. It’s really special and sometimes taken for granted.

Recently one morning, my newborn was crying quite a bit. More than usual. I was trying to pat his back to soothe him, which was failing spectacularly. My 3 year old son came in the playroom where we were at to witness all of this. He then told me to just hold the baby flat and move him up and down like how someone does barbell curls. I started to laugh because he has seen me do it hundreds of times at this point when my newborn is crying hysterically. I was also surprised that my 3 year old son looked at the situation and offered up that suggestion quickly to help me problem solve.

Safe to say that was my go to move to soothe the newborn. Doing some bicep curls and getting exercise is the way to do it. I’m glad one of the things that my 3 year old learned was something positive from me and he is learning how to be an amazing big brother! Let’s hope he doesn’t learn much of the negative stuff from me as well!
