Good One Daddy

On most nights (when I’m not exhausted or grumpy), I really do look forward to reading the kids a story that they choose for bedtime. It’s quality bonding time and it gives me time to teach them new things or just talk to them about something important. We also get to cuddle in bed, which is my favorite.

One night, my kids were asking me where Goodnight Goodnight Construction Site was. It was a book they really enjoyed reading and I did as well (mostly because it rhymed and I would sometimes read it in such a monotoned voice that they would get really drowsy). I told them they would have to “dig” for it as a passing comment.

My 5 year old daughter paused and started laughing. She actually thought it was a funny joke and said to me it was a good one Daddy. She kept chuckling and repeating that until she found the book. It was such a small moment in time, but I’m glad my little joke made her laugh. That’ll never get old.
