Foot Fracture
After getting back home, my wife took our 4 year old son C to the doctor to get his foot checked out and x-rayed. I was hopeful because after getting the images, I plugged them into ChatGPT to get them analyzed. The results were that there was no fracture according to AI, but it was of course not official unless it’s from a radiologist. Once the radiologist took a look, they confirmed it was indeed a small foot fracture.
C was still an immense pain when trying to put any weight on his foot. I was really worried about the fracture, but once an orthopedic doctor took a look, they determined that it was the most minor of fractures. He was actually gonna make a recovery in about four weeks. We needed to just be really careful and at the two week mark, he will be able to do non-weight-bearing exercises like swimming.
Over the last few days, it has been a struggle to keep C off of his feet. He is so active and instead of walking around, he is resorted to crawling feverishly around like a crazy baby. He also climbs up and down the stairs, gets in and out of chairs, and spins all around the ground so much that he made the holes in his pajamas around his knees even bigger. The only thing that stops him from bouncing off the walls is to watch TV, which he has done quite a bit of.
Even though the last few days were a struggle, I’m just glad that the prognosis is fairly good. I was really sad at first because I thought the recovery time for a fracture was around 8 to 12 weeks, but four weeks is doable. Just taking things slowly and getting through them step by step was the key. He also got a boot to wear, but he would rather wear a small brace and promises to be careful. As long as he avoids any big injuries, it should be healed up in no time. He will be stuck at home and not in daycare, but the extra time with him is nice. Even if he is crawling around like a crazy baby.
