False Foot Fault

My 4 year old son C had been home most of the week since he hurt his foot again. He has been dealing with a fracture for almost two months and when it was starting to heal nicely, he re-injured it messing around last weekend. I thought he may have re-fractured his foot, but he did make progress towards getting back on his feet towards the end of the week.

I started to notice C walking on his foot a bit more as the week went on, but when I asked him whether it hurt, he quickly said yes and told me he didn’t actually put weight on it. I got very skeptical when I saw him walk a few steps with his boot on and stand around doing some art. I didn’t mind being conservative with his foot and to have him staying home. I got to spend extra time coloring with him and doing other activities, so it was nice.

My wife wanted C to be back at school sooner and she saw the same improving trend I did. C kept telling her he couldn’t go to school, but when my wife told him that he couldn’t go to the school field trip to the fire station next week if he didn’t go to school, then the tune changed. C said he could go to school and he went towards the end of the week. There were no issues with his foot and he had a blast at school. I guess it was a false foot fault and that nothing actually was wrong. Luckily, the doctor confirmed as much to end the week and it is unlikely to be a re-fracture. The only thing that happened was we got to spend more time with C and he had a little too much energy in the afternoons. I’m just glad he is fine.
